The Slavic Literature Pod
A little bit about us...
The Slavic Literature Pod is a podcast for lovers of Russian literature, those who have heard of Russia and/or literature, and those wondering, “is War and Peace really that good?”
Three Fridays per months, hosts Matt Gerasimovich and Cameron Lallana take a deep dive into a different piece of Slavic literature, discussing the major themes and relevant cultural features to help you get the most out of each work.
We’ve hosted scholars, translators, authors, and other interesting people to provide a varied and in-depth show for our listeners.
Where can you find us?
Anywhere you get your podcasts! Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Goodpods, Breaker…you name it, we’re on there. (Unless you find one we’re not on in which case you can let us know and we’ll rectify that!)
The Slavic Literature Pod and Tipsy Tolstoy: Russian Literature for the Inebriated are one and the same podcast.
Cameron and Matt started the podcast shortly after graduating undergrad and in the midst of pandemic lockdowns; as a result, the podcast had a more casual tone and allowed the duo to sample craft beers while recording. Three years into the podcast and with much busier lives, they realized their original branding was a relic of an older era. (It was also just plain harder to schedule time to have drinks every week).
So the duo launched their rebrand as the Slavic Literature Pod, a more professional take on the exact same concept that has animated the podcast since its inception.
(They do both miss a lot of the old art attached to Tipsy Tolstoy’s brand. If you’re interested in seeing those, you can find them attached to this short, written history of the podcast.)
